The Drakensberg mountains of South Africa or is a 200-kilometre-long mountainous wonderland and world heritage site. The Drakensberg mountains, with their awe-inspiring basalt cliffs, snowcapped in winter, tower over riverine bush, lush yellowwood forests and cascading waterfalls, forms a massive barrier separating KwaZulu-Natal from the Kingdom of Lesotho. A four wheel drive up Sani Pass in the southern berg area, with it's hair raising bends and breathtaking views to the top of the mountain is an experience not to be missed.

Zulu wars, Shaka, Isandlwana, Rorke's Drift, Colenso, Spioenkop, Ladysmith, Dundee, Churchill, Blood River, Cetshwayo, Boers..., these are some of the terms which are associated with the internationally renowned Battlefields area of South Africa. We visit Hluhluwe-Umfolozi (Imfolozi) Park which is not only the oldest reserve in Africa, but also the place where the white rhino was saved from extinction. Today the park is the third largest in South Africa and the only reserve where you are assured of good rhino sightings. The region is also the home of the mighty Zulus and we get some insight into their age-old culture when we visit an authentic Zulu village. The animals found here range from the 'Big Five' to the shy nyala, as well as prolific bird life.

This tour combines the best wildlife and wilderness areas of South Africa blended with the rugged beauty so synonymous with the African Continent. This amazing tour is a must for the adventurous at heart. It departs from Durban on the east coast of Africa. See the Northern Drakensberg Mountains. Travel through the Freestate to Kimberley in the Northern Cape, a town packed with diamond discovery history of the previous century. We travel west to the Augrabies Waterfalls and Game Park, until we reach the west coast of Africa. In the spring months of September we could experience the miraculous flowers of Namaqualand. We travel south along the West Coast to our final destination, Cape Town.
