is situated in central Zululand and is known for its rich wildlife and conservation efforts and the only park in KwaZulu-Natal where all the Big Five Game occur, Lion, Leopard, Elephant, Rhino and Buffalo. The Hluhluwe Game Reserve now has the largest population of white rhino in the world. In 1999 the Lake St Lucia park was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site because of the diverse biodiversity, unique ecosystems and superlative natural beauty. We also visit the DumaZulu Cultural Village for an unforgattable authentic African cultural experience.

Area activities

THE SILVER PACKAGE.
We introduced the Hluhluwe Game Park 3 DAY Safari - SILVER package for those who do not need the level of LUXURY accommodation (4 star+) the Gold package offers, but still expect the same quality as far as the overall tour experience is concerned.

ACCOMMODATION.
The accommodation has been replaced by standard rooms( 3 Star+). These more affordable venues still comes highly recommended and we took extreme care to not sacrifice our very high tour standards.

DINNERS.
Dinners are also optional giving you the freedom to choose something lighter or smaller than the huge three course meals we offer in the Gold package.

ENTRANCES.
All the entrances mentioned in the GOLD package are included.

CONCLUSION.
We need to make it very clear that the OFFICIAL tour itinerary has not been altered. You will have the same experience and visit the same places as our very well ESTABLISHED and TESTED LUXURY GOLD package.

1. This Hluhluwe Game Park 3 DAY Safari - SILVER Tour Package excludes Dinners. You are of course welcome to dine at any of the excellent restaurants in the area, to the menu of your choice
2. More affordable, but comfortable accommodation options are used.
3. Multi Day tours requires 20% deposit payment at booking time.
4. 100% Deposit will be required if tour is Less than 70 Days away.
5. Multi Day tours needs to be booked 72 hours in advanced.
6. Children under 12 years pays 50% of the required fee.
7. Toddlers under 2 years old only pays for an infant seat at R60.00 per day.

OPTIONAL 4 : DAY 3 - Lake St Lucia Boat Cruise.
ROUTING : Durban - Zulu Village - Hluhluwe-Umfolozi - St Lucia - Durban.
SPECIAL NOTES : Bring sun block and an insect repellant along.
MEDICAL REQUIREMENTS : An anti-malaria drug is recommended.
DRESS REQUIREMENTS : Comfortable casual and smart casual for the evenings, warm windbreakers/jackets for the night game drives in open vehicle.

Tour Itinerary

Today the park is the third largest in South Africa and the only reserve where you are virtually assured of good rhino sightings. The region is also the home of the mighty Zulus and we get some insight into their age-old culture when we visit an authentic Zulu village. The last day, after a final game drive, we visit the famous lake St Lucia, now proclaimed a world heritage site. We join a boat cruise on the lake and see a proliferation of bird life, crocodile and hippo in their natural habitat. We return to Durban with fond memories of ancient Africa.

DAY 1. Durban, Zulu Cultural Village, Hluhluwe Umfolozi Game Reserve.
We travel north through sugar cane fields, eucalyptus plantations, and past titanium mining operations towards the subtropical coast and bushveld of Zululand. We visit a Zulu village for a cultural experience. We visit the Sangoma (a diviner also erroneously called the 'Witch doctor') and treated to some authentic tribal dancing. After lunch we depart for the “Big Five” Hluhluwe-Umfolozi (Imfolozi) Park where our close encounter with the African wildlife begins.
We reach Hilltop Camp for dinner and overnight in the chalet type accommodation.

DAY 2. Hluhluwe-Umfolozi Game Reserve.
An early morning rise to join an open vehicle game drive (OPTIONAL) in search of the animals and return for breakfast. The rest of the day we spend game viewing through the reserve in our vehicle with your guide. Return to the camp in time for a late afternoon/early evening open vehicle game drive (OPTIONAL) using powerful spotlights to find the elusive nocturnal animals. We return for dinner after an unforgettable experience, and for a well-deserved rest at Hilltop Camp in the reserve.

DAY 3. Lake St Lucia, Durban.
After an early breakfast we have a last exciting game drive before we leave the reserve for a boat cruise (OPTIONAL) on the famous Lake St Lucia (proclaimed a World Heritage Site in December 1999), a natural paradise around which five complete ecosystems exist with an abundance of bird life, hippo and crocodiles. After this experience we return to Durban where we arrive late afternoon.
